World War I, Nazi Germany and Jewish Berlin: After the disaster of World War I, the last Kaiser fled. As a hedonistic 1920s underworld thrived and new democratic powers of Weimar Germany struggled to gain control, people watched in fear as Berlin became the nerve centre of Nazi Germany.

Cold War: When one war ended another began as Germany was carved up after WWII and the Cold War started. Berlin disappeared behind the Iron Curtain and became a city of spies, escapes, clashing ideologies and finally revolution.
